Video installation in the elevators of ‚Mandarin Oriental Hôtel du Rhône’ Geneva/Switzerland. Commissioned by Adam Tihany Design, New York.

In the video the city of Geneva is portrayed in 16 images. Each frame is composed of different shots. There is always a slow vertical camera movement, which reveals a particular situation in the upper part and its reflection on water in the lower part. Elements of the city underline a certain geometrical order while as water or nature in general is depicted as a more chaotic element. The surface of water functions almost like a screen, where these two elements are blended into each other. Those reflections in running water put the scenery upside down, animate it with the flow of the water and blur it into a more surreal, fairytale-like frame. We can see a constant shifting between locations and their more abstract and fragmented counterparts.
